Psychotherapy
Therapeutic Approach
My approach to therapy is integrative and collaborative - meaning I draw from a number of evidence based theories and work intentionally with each client to provide care that fits their individualized needs. A few of the approaches I utilize most frequently are: Internal Family Systems Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, and various mindfulness practices.

Regardless of approach my practice is trauma informed. Trauma informed care means I recognize the presence of trauma symptoms and acknowledge the role trauma may play in an individual’s life. It is my commitment to promote an environment of healing and recovery and to avoid practices and services that may inadvertently re-traumatize.

In addition to traditional talk therapy, I am trained in providing EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR is endorsed by the World Health Organization as a recommended treatment for trauma. More information regarding EMDR can be found at: http://www.emdr.com/what-is-emdr/
More than anything, I strive to provide my clients with a nonjudgmental and unconditionally warm environment where clients feel fully seen and heard. My goal is to create a space that feels safe and secure, allowing clients to explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences freely without fear of judgment. Research points to the relationship between client and therapist as the most critical component to successful therapy, so it is my desire to establish a relationship in which clients feel supported, safe, and comfortable. It is an honour and privilege to have the opportunity to walk alongside clients wherever they are in their journey.
